Kamala Paati, 74, lives alone in Perambur. Her son works in another state; weeks would pass without a proper meal or a proper conversation.
Our Sunday meal drive found her two years ago. Since then she hasn’t missed one — and neither have we. Volunteers bring her lunch, check her blood pressure when the camp van comes, and mostly, they sit and talk.
“My son is far away. But every Sunday, these children come with food and sit with me. I wait for them.”
